It was with great sadness that we at TWGSB learned of the passing of Catherine Dodds in late January 2026.

Catherine was a member of the TWGSB community for nearly two decades, working at the school from 2004 until her retirement in 2022. As a Geography teacher and Lower School Head of Year, she was a constant, trusted presence for students, parents and staff.

In her classroom, Mrs Dodds was known for her high standards and clear expectations. She was strict, fair, and yet consistent — qualities that students came to value and respect. Her classroom was always a calm, purposeful learning space, and the results her students achieved were regularly among the best in the school. Outside of the classroom, Catherine enjoyed spending time with students and colleagues on field trips and annual residential trips to Iceland and Somerset, where her warmth and humour were enjoyed by everyone.

As Head of Year, Catherine’s high expectations ensured students felt secure and supported. She was emotionally generous, dedicated and cared deeply about the boys in her care. She worked closely with students and their families, helping them through challenges with patience, wisdom and compassion.

Catherine was also a dear friend and colleague to many across the school community. She will be remembered with great affection and her contribution to TWGSB will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts are especially with her husband Jim and their sons Martin and Kevin, and grandchildren too.
