In 2026 Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys turns 70.
As Headteacher Amanda Simpson looks to the future, she sees TWGSB continuing to excel well beyond expectations, nurturing pupils who demonstrate all-round excellence and go on to join an alumni community of exceptional breadth, distinction, and achievement.
Central to this vision is a fully-transformed Tunbridge Wells campus, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that build on the gold-standard infrastructural improvements already delivered during her tenure and in keeping with the stellar Sevenoaks campus. This will ensure that future generations of pupils have the environment they need to thrive and succeed.
Investment in our Science and Design, Technology facilities has now become essential.
Our school needs a revitalised Science and Design & Technology wing that honours the school’s heritage while delivering modern laboratories, digital fabrication studios, and creative maker spaces. This development will support all GCSE students and many at A Level, securing a lasting legacy of excellence for generations to come.
Our Science and Design; Technology laboratories, built in the 1950s, do not reflectthe education we aspire to provide nor the future our students deserve to inherit. To equip today’s pupils for the world of the 2050s, we must create modern, inspiring spaces that encourage curiosity, creativity, and innovation. As a school, our role is not simply to offer knowledge, but to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and designers and to attract and retain exceptional teachers who can lead them there.
Raising £800,000–£900,000 over the next two to three years will enable the first phase of this transformation and ensure our facilities match the ambition and potential of our students.
