Raphaé Memon (2006 to 2011) completed A Levels in Art & Design, Maths and Biology.

Alongside of his academics, he loved his role as senior editor for the school magazine (Eclectics) and holds the happiest memories here working alongside of and learning from Mrs Welford.

Raphaé also enjoyed his time in the school orchestra, the wind band and clarinet choir, travelling as a part of the TWGSB music tour to Barcelona in 2011 with Ms Stokes.

He thoroughly enjoyed his time studying Art with Mrs Buttery and Graphic Design with Mr Bamgbola, these subjects becoming the foundation of his creative career.

On leaving TWGSB, Raphaé went on to complete a BA(Hons) Architecture at the University of Manchester/ Manchester - School of Architecture as well as doing an MArch / Architecture and the Part 3 qualification at The Bartlett School of Architecture UCL.

He has subsequently worked as an Architect and Designer across exhibitions, installations, and set designs for opera, dance, theatre and live performance in the UK.

‘My practice follows the intersection of architecture and scenography, shaping spatial experiences that bridge the built environment and the performing arts. Raphaé shared with us in response to noting our rejunvenated Linkedin presence since July this year.

‘Its difficult to think of a career highligh because as a creative designer I always keep an open mind towards new opportunities. I aspire to keep creating, and this is where my practice goes beyond the traditional study path that I followed as an architect. For me following just one path was difficult, as my polymath brain wanted a variety of creative stimulation. This perhaps started when I was doing creative graphic design work as well as more artistic sculptural work. At the end it comes down to expressing my creativity and this is both an opportunity and a challenge because it often involves truly understanding and expressing your inner voice.

Whilst at TWGSB, I was quite studious, and at that time I was also very much trying to understand my own identity as an individual and creative. What stays with me is that my teachers really made space for me, to help me shine academically and personally.

Since leaving school, I have stayed in touch with Jack Bennet: (https://jackwbmusic.com/) and in terms of interests, I started training in adult ballet seven years ago and still keeping this up, along with my consistent gym training.
