Tad Stone kindly let TWGSB Connect know about the passing of Micky Boyes. He writes,

"RIP Mick 'The Boot' - Micky Boyes who taught Maths and PE 1964-70 when he emigrated. Sadly Micky Boyes he died in April 2022 in Melbourne where he taught after emigrating. He was a great character and wonderful cricketer and rugby player. I remember him always in the sport news for either point scoring for Crowborough RFC or scoring centuries for Tunbridge Wells CC. I believe he once scored 6 centuries in consecutive innings for TWCC.

Obituary of Micky Boyes

Boyes
George Michael

28.12.1939–21.4.2022

The School Board, Principal, Old Carey Grammarians and friends of Carey Baptist Grammar School mourn the passing of Mick Boyes, who died peacefully on 21 April.

Mick taught mathematics and physical education from 1970-99 with verve and flair but had little time for orthodoxy, and his classes were always full of laughter.

He immersed himself in all forms of team sport, particularly cricket and rugby, and coached with a similar enthusiastic panache.

He was known widely throughout the Associated Public Schools for his constant encouragement of students and staff, for his love of fun and for the legacy of enjoyment of work and life that he left to hundreds of people.

Thanks, Mick. You have enriched our lives, and we are grateful. Rest in peace.
